Why I don't make New Year's Resolutions!

A few years ago I used to make my New Years resolutions with excitement on the 1st January.

They may last for a few days or even a week if I was lucky and then the guilt would set in, I would feel like a failure and begin to feel depressed.

Not a great start to the year!

Since I started my wellbeing business last year, I now do things slightly differently.

I start by doing some daydreaming. Now have you any idea how fabulous this is for me? When I was at school, I used to stare out of the window during class and let my creative, imagination run wild. It was so much fun. Then I would get told off by the teacher!

"Vision without action is daydreaming. Action without vision is a nightmare."

These days, I make a point of allowing myself to daydream every day. More than once preferably. I think about all the things I want to do this year, and beyond, for me, the grander the dream, the better, I want to take myself out of my comfort zone. I make a note of all the things I want to do and compile them into different sections.

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.”

Now the fun starts! I go through magazines and brochures and cut out all the images to fit in with the notes I have made. The aim is to stick them onto a dream or vision board, which I will spend time focussing on each day.

My vision board is pinned up in my kitchen, so I can see it every day and focus on my hopes, dreams and goals, not just for business but every area of my life.

I am a very visual person, and so the vision board really works for me, as it is always in my line of vision whilst working, cooking, cleaning (lol) and washing up!

Do you take time out to daydream and create your future?

If you like the idea of a vision board and would like help creating it, book onto my vision board class on Sunday 14th January and let's get creative! You also get a surprise gift to take home.
