REIKI
EXPERIENCE
90 MINS
£90

A hug for your soul

When was the last time somebody looked after you?

Properly looked after you.

Not because they wanted something from you. Not because you had another responsibility to deal with.

Just because, for once, it was your turn.

If you've been feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, emotionally drained or simply a little disconnected from yourself, my signature Reiki Experience gives you the opportunity to put everything else to one side.

You don't have to explain yourself perfectly.

You don't have to switch your mind off.

And you certainly don't have to worry about whether you're doing Reiki correctly.

All I ask is that you get comfortable and let me look after you.

I'm Penelope Silver, a Reiki Master with around 20 years of experience, and I've developed this treatment by bringing together the things I love most about Reiki, meditation and genuinely personal care.

My intention is simple. I want you to feel seen, heard and held.

Like you've experienced a hug for your soul.

More than just a Reiki treatment

If you've never had Reiki before, you might imagine turning up, lying on a treatment bed for an hour and then being sent on your way.

I've experienced that myself.

And it's one of the reasons I've created something a little different.

My 90-minute Reiki Experience brings together a personal wellbeing consultation, essential oils chosen around your emotions, a foot cleansing ritual, guided meditation, intuitive Reiki and time afterwards to talk about your experience.

Every detail has been carefully considered.

The warmth of the bed. The softness of the blankets. The music. The lighting. How you're feeling when you arrive. And how you're feeling when you leave.

Because everybody is different, and I don't believe everybody should receive exactly the same experience.

This is also where we begin if you're coming to me for Reiki for the first time.

A hug for your soul

90-Minute Reiki Experience - £90

What happens during your Reiki Experience?

1. We begin with a proper conversation

Before getting onto the treatment bed, we'll sit down and go through your wellbeing questionnaire together.

It's an opportunity for me to understand a little more about you, how you're feeling and what you'd like from your experience.

Sometimes people arrive knowing exactly what they want to talk about.

Other times, they sit down and suddenly find themselves sharing things they hadn't even planned to say.

I find that incredibly humbling, because it tells me they feel comfortable enough to open up.

But there's absolutely no pressure to tell me anything you're not comfortable sharing.

You can talk as much or as little as you wish. Anything you share is treated with privacy, confidentiality and discretion, subject to applicable legal and safeguarding responsibilities.

The last question I ask is one of my favourites:

"What are your top three emotions of the day?"

Not how you think you should be feeling.

Not how you were feeling last week.

How are you feeling today?

I use those emotions to help me choose three essential oils for your treatment.

Generally, one is chosen for grounding during your foot ritual, another is used on my hands during Reiki, and the third is something more uplifting towards the end of your experience.

I'll always check your preferences and any sensitivities before using the oils.

2. My signature foot cleansing ritual

I introduced this little ritual after experiencing something similar during a facial.

The therapist started with lovely warm mitts on my feet, and I remember thinking, "Forget the facial, you can just do that to my feet for an hour!"

I enjoyed it so much that I decided to bring the idea into my own practice.

It's one of my favourite ways to begin a treatment.

A lovely moment when the outside world starts to feel a little further away and you can begin to settle into the experience.

3. Getting you completely comfortable

My treatment room at One Inner Beauty Studio in Alderley Edge is warm, cosy and thoughtfully arranged.

There's underfloor heating, a heated treatment bed, soft lighting, beautiful blankets and a large floral mural.

I've even climbed onto my own treatment bed to see what my clients see when they're lying there.

I know. I'm quite particular!

But I don't want you spending your appointment worrying that you're cold, uncomfortable or lying in the wrong position.

I'll ask whether you'd like a pillow beneath your knees, whether you're happy with the temperature and whether you'd prefer a duvet, a weighted blanket or an eye mask.

You remain fully clothed during Reiki.

And please don't think you have to lie there completely rigid.

If you want to move, move.

If you're uncomfortable, tell me.

If you'd like something changed, just ask.

Your comfort always comes first.

4. A guided meditation created especially for this experience

I'm also a meditation teacher, and I love creating my own guided meditations.

The meditation I use during my Reiki Experience is particularly special to me. It came through me intuitively and has become an important part of my signature treatment.

Before we begin, I'll invite you to set an intention in your mind.

Then I'll say something I always tell my clients:

"You are very welcome to follow along if you want to, and if you don't want to, I won't be offended."

And I mean it!

You don't need to know how to meditate.

You don't have to concentrate on every word.

You can drift off, let your imagination wander or simply listen.

I'll guide you through a beautiful journey in nature, with a flowing river, wildflowers, majestic oak trees and a peaceful healing sanctuary that's entirely your own.

I also weave in emotions you've shared during our consultation, making the meditation more personal to you.

There are a few special sensory touches along the way, but I'm not going to give away all my little secrets.

The guided meditation lasts approximately 20 minutes and leads naturally into your Reiki.

5. Your Reiki treatment

Reiki is a Japanese spiritual energy-healing practice based on the traditional understanding of universal life force energy.

I don't see myself as the healer.

I'm the channel.

My role, as I understand it, is to channel Reiki energy and support you in connecting with your own inner capacity for healing and balance.

Before we begin, I'll ask whether you'd prefer hands-on or hands-off Reiki.

It's entirely your choice.

I'll also ask whether you'd like to know what you might see, feel, hear or experience, or whether you'd rather simply experience it for yourself.

Some people like to know everything beforehand. Others prefer not to.

Neither approach is right or wrong.

I'll work intuitively, drawing on my Reiki training, years of practice and my clairvoyant and clairsentient experiences.

I generally begin at the top of the head and work down through the body, adapting the treatment according to your preferences and my intuitive approach.

All you have to do is relax.

You don't have to make anything happen.

Just let me do all the work.

What might you feel during Reiki?

Everybody's experience is different.

Some people describe warmth or tingling.

Others notice colours, patterns or images behind their closed eyes.

Some feel as though they're floating, while others simply enjoy being still.

And some fall fast asleep.

In fact, I often find that by the time I've worked from the top of someone's head down towards their third eye chakra, they're already snoring away.

And if you snore, I take it as a compliment!

I've certainly fallen asleep during Reiki myself, so please don't be embarrassed.

Sometimes, during a first treatment, people remain a little more alert because they're wondering what I'll do next or what they should be feeling.

I've noticed that returning clients often settle into the experience more quickly because everything is familiar.

But whether you fall asleep, stay awake, experience all sorts of sensations or don't notice anything particularly unusual, that's absolutely fine.

There's no test to pass.

And there's no particular result you're supposed to achieve.

What happens afterwards?

This is another part of the treatment that's really important to me.

I don't finish the Reiki, tell you to get off the bed and immediately send you on your way.

I've had treatments like that myself, and I remember feeling a little disappointed because I wanted to know what the practitioner had experienced.

So I do things differently.

We talk about what I've experienced

I'll share any colours, patterns, images, intuitive impressions or areas where I sensed energetic imbalances during your Reiki.

I always tell you what I've experienced before asking you about yours.

That's because I don't want your experience influencing what I share.

And I'm very conscious of not imposing my own interpretation.

If I've seen something, I'll tell you what I've seen.

It might mean something to you. It might not.

It's entirely up to you what you take from it.

These are my personal spiritual and intuitive observations, rather than medical assessments.

Personalised suggestions for looking after yourself

We'll also talk about anything I feel might be helpful between appointments.

Sometimes it's a meditation or breathing exercise.

Sometimes it's going for a walk, making more time for yourself or doing something creative.

I might also suggest particular activities, colours or other practices associated with chakra balancing.

It's about helping you find small, manageable ways to continue looking after yourself.

Your oracle card

I finish every session by pulling an oracle card for you.

And after all these years, it still amazes me how often the card seems relevant to what we've just been talking about.

It's freaky!

I'll share my interpretation, and you're welcome to photograph the card if you'd like to remember it.

A little reminder to take home

I have my own branded ribbon, which I scent with the essential oils selected for your treatment and tie around your wrist, with your permission.

It's a little reminder of the time you've taken for yourself.

Occasionally, when I feel intuitively drawn to it and have one available, I'll also offer a crystal for you to take home.

I love those little personal touches, because I know how much they can mean.

Aftercare and your next appointment

Before you leave, I'll explain my Reiki aftercare recommendations.

My training, including teachings from William Lee Rand, emphasised aftercare as part of the Reiki experience.

Within traditional Reiki teachings, this is associated with an energetic cleansing and integration process.

I recommend drinking plenty of water, avoiding alcohol after the treatment and allowing yourself some time to rest.

You might feel deeply relaxed afterwards, a little emotional or tired, or much the same as you did beforehand. Experiences vary.

I'll also discuss whether I think another Reiki appointment would be useful and when I would suggest returning.

I believe in preventative wellbeing: making time to look after yourself regularly rather than waiting until everything feels too much.

Some clients begin with a short series of weekly appointments before moving towards a rhythm that suits them.

But you're always in control of what you book.

I'll make my recommendation, explain why and leave the choice with you.

Who is the Reiki Experience for?

This experience may appeal to you if:

You've never tried Reiki before and would like a little reassurance and personal attention.

You spend much of your time looking after everybody else and rarely make time for yourself.

You've been feeling overwhelmed, emotionally drained or disconnected from yourself.

You're curious about Reiki, meditation and spiritual wellbeing.

You'd love some quiet time without having to do anything for anybody else.

You want to begin incorporating regular moments of rest into your life.

You don't need to believe in Reiki or share all my spiritual beliefs.

You can arrive curious, sceptical or somewhere in between.

And you certainly don't have to be good at relaxing.

I've been practising Reiki for around 20 years, but I was sceptical myself when somebody first suggested I try it.

The important thing is finding out how the experience feels for you.

Reiki is a complementary spiritual wellbeing practice, not a substitute for medical or psychological care.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 90-minute Reiki Experience suitable for my first appointment?

Yes. In fact, this is the appointment I ask all new Reiki clients to book. It gives us the opportunity to talk properly, personalise your treatment and introduce you to Reiki without feeling rushed.

Do I need to take my clothes off?

No. You remain fully clothed, usually removing only your shoes for the foot ritual and treatment.

Will you touch me during Reiki?

Only with your agreement. I'll ask whether you prefer hands-on or hands-off Reiki, and you can change your mind at any time.

What if I can't meditate or switch my mind off?

That's absolutely fine. You're welcome to follow my guided meditation, listen quietly or let your thoughts wander. You don't need any previous meditation experience.

What if I fall asleep or start snoring?

I'll take it as a compliment! There's no need to apologise. Equally, staying awake is perfectly normal.

What if I don't feel anything?

You don't have to experience warmth, tingling, colours or anything unusual. Everyone's experience is different, and I won't tell you what you should have felt.

Can I have Reiki if I'm sensitive to essential oils, sounds or touch?

Please tell me about your sensitivities during our consultation or beforehand. I'll discuss how we can adapt the experience, including avoiding particular oils and respecting your preference for hands-off treatment.

Will I need more than one Reiki appointment?

Not necessarily. You can come for a single experience. If you want to make Reiki part of your regular wellbeing routine, I'll suggest a frequency based on our conversation and my practitioner observations, without any obligation to book a package.

How much does the Reiki Experience cost?

The 90-minute Reiki Experience costs £90 and is paid for when booking. Please review the current booking terms and cancellation policy before confirming your appointment.
