Grief Meditation Evenings for Women in Alderley Edge

A quiet, body-led space to put down what you're carrying -

intentionally no sharing circle, no pressure to speak

Once a month, I hold a small grief meditation evening for eight women at our studio on South Street, Alderley Edge - ten minutes from Wilmslow, in the heart of Cheshire.

It's a guided somatic meditation called Coming Home to Yourself, using breath, gentle EFT-informed tapping, and quiet journaling. You won't be asked to talk about your grief. You won't be asked to explain why you've come. You'll simply be guided, gently, for an hour - and then you'll go home.

Upcoming Sessions

Join us on Sunday, 12th July, for two sittings at

10 –11 am and 7– 8 pm.

Each session is £22.22, with only eight spots available.

Grief isn't only about losing someone we love...

We grieve friendships. We grieve relationships. We grieve careers. We grieve versions of ourselves. We grieve the life we thought we would have by now.

Sometimes we don't even realise we're carrying grief. It sits in the body as tiredness that sleep doesn't fix, tension in the shoulders and jaw, numbness, anxiety, brain fog, or that strange feeling of not quite being yourself.

These evenings exist for every kind of loss, recent or decades old, named or nameless.

You don't need a bereavement to belong here.

You don't need to know what you're grieving for the evening to work on it.

Not sure what you're carrying?

What happens at a grief meditation evening

1 / You arrive and settle.

Find a seat, get comfortable. No introductions, no going round the room.

2 / We calm the nervous system.

We begin with slow guided breathing - a technique that signals to your body that it's safe to rest.

3 / The guided meditation.

I talk you through the whole practice, moving gently through the body with breath, awareness, and light EFT-informed tapping, noticing the places where grief, loss, and old emotions may still be held. You can't do it wrong.

Every session follows the same gentle arc, so you always know what you're walking into:

4 / Quiet journaling.

Time to write whatever arises. Nobody reads it. Nobody asks about it. You take your journal home with you.

5 / You go home.

hopefully a little lighter. Some women stay for a few quiet minutes first; both are welcome.

6 / The After Effects

Some women notice tiredness, vivid dreams, or emotions surfacing in the days afterwards. It usually settles - it's often simply the body processing quietly. I always suggest planning a soft weekend around the session.

Why the body - and why tapping

Grief doesn't only live in our thoughts. The body holds what the mind hasn't had time to process - quietly, without complaint, waiting for us to listen.

I've spent two decades as a Reiki Master and EFT practitioner here in Cheshire, helping people release what their bodies have been holding.

The tapping we use in these evenings is drawn from EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) - a gentle, rhythmic practice done with your own fingertips, paired with simple statements of permission and release.

These evenings bring together twenty years of practice with something more personal: I created them after losing my mum this year.

I built the evening I needed - and it turned out other women needed it too.

The first session sold out, and the sessions now run monthly.

Who these evenings are for

Women carrying bereavement - recent, or from long ago and never fully felt

Women grieving relationships or friendships that ended or changed.

Women navigating divorce, empty nest, career endings, or menopause-era identity shifts.

Women who feel they've lost themselves somewhere along the way.

Women who have already done the talking, or can't face talking, and need a different way in.

These evenings are not a substitute for professional support. If you're in acute crisis, please speak to your GP or a grief counsellor first - and you're welcome to contact me either way; I'll always help you find the right support.

FAQ's

1 / What is a grief meditation evening?

A grief meditation evening is a small guided group session, eight women, combining somatic meditation, breathwork, gentle EFT-informed tapping, and quiet journaling, designed to help you notice and begin releasing grief held in the body. There is no group discussion and no pressure to speak. Sessions are held monthly in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, and last around an hour.

2 / Do I have to talk about my grief?

No. There is no sharing circle, and you won't be asked to speak, introduce yourself, or explain why you've come. My voice guides the whole session; everything you feel and write stays private.

3 / Is it only for people who have lost someone?

No. These evenings are for grief of every kind - bereavement, relationship and friendship endings, career loss, illness,  identity change, places, animals, belongings, and the quiet grief of a life that didn't turn out as planned. Perhaps even a parent who is still alive but not present in your life. Many women who attend haven't had a recent bereavement.

4 / Do I need any experience with meditation or tapping?

None at all. Every minute is guided, and the tapping is demonstrated before we begin. You can't do it wrong.

5 / Where are the sessions held?

At our studio - Penelope Silver Wellbeing (The Reiki One), ONE, 12–14 South Street, Alderley Edge, Cheshire SK9 7ES. It's around ten minutes from Wilmslow and easily reached from Macclesfield, Knutsford, and south Manchester.

6 / How much does it cost and how do I book?

Each evening is £22.22, with eight places per sitting. To book, email blossom@penelopesilver.co.uk and I'll send you everything you need. If a sitting is full, I'll offer you first refusal on the next month's date.

7 / Is this therapy or counselling?

No - and I'd never claim it to be. It's a held, guided space that many women use alongside (or after) talking-based support. If something bigger surfaces for you, I'll always help you find the right professional support.

8 / What if I cry - or feel nothing at all?

Both are completely normal. Some women cry, some feel very little on the night and more in the days after, and some simply feel deeply rested. However, the evening lands for you is right.

Held by Penelope Silver - Reiki Master and EFT practitioner, Alderley Edge. Coming home to yourself, quietly, gently, one breath at a time.
