Finding Peace and Balance: A Client’s Reiki Journey

At my Reiki practice in Alderley Edge, I see so many clients looking for ways to quiet the mind, relieve stress, and reconnect with themselves. Reiki is a beautiful, gentle way to support that process—like a calming reset button for both mind and body.

Today, I’d love to share a story from one of my wonderful clients. Her journey with Reiki might inspire anyone feeling overwhelmed, sleep-deprived, or just a bit “stuck” in their daily routines.

Why She Came to Reiki

This client found me through a Google search (yes, it does work!). She’d had Reiki before, so she knew the benefits, but with the usual demands of family, work, and life, it had been a while. As a busy HR professional and mum of twins, she found herself running on nerves, feeling anxious, and struggling to keep her mind calm. Even though the recent half-term break had been peaceful, she felt the familiar “mental noise” creeping back as she prepared to return to work.

Breaking the Sleep Struggle

One of her biggest challenges was sleep—she’d wake up around 3 or 4 am and find it hard to drift back off. We talked about a few things that might help, including a magnesium spray to relax her body. I also suggested trying essential oils on the soles of her feet before bed, as it helps the calming effects absorb quickly into the bloodstream. Small changes like these can support the restful sleep we all need but sometimes find so elusive.

Letting Go of Stress and Self-Critique

In our sessions, we also focused on her habit of overthinking and taking on other people’s stress. Many of us do this without even realising it, especially those of us with empathic qualities. I helped her work on building up her personal “shield” and on attracting more positive, nourishing relationships. We explored ways to turn down the volume on negative self-talk and replace it with kinder, more encouraging thoughts.

The Calm Begins

After a few sessions, she started to feel a real shift. The mental noise was quieter, her sleep was improving, and she felt a renewed sense of calm and focus. The best part? She felt excited and motivated about her own well-being journey, knowing she was taking active steps to create more balance and clarity in her life.
